  After the war, the British government maintained its anti-Zionist policy and its immigration quotas. This, combined with the Holocaust's devastation, convinced the Haganah that armed resistance, expressed by Etzel, was necessary.A four page pamphlet, 5” x 9”, Hebrew Language, removed, Headline, “For the information of the community!” Published by The National Military Organization In the Land of Israel (Etzel), In part, “we submitted a memorandum to two hundred and fifty individuals in the community: the heads of all institutions, activists of all parties, political, economic and scientific activists, etc. In this memorandum, we proposed and implored that all those who see themselves as the spiritual and political leaders of the nation, would gather courage in their hearts, after all the terrible disasters that have befallen the people, perhaps because of their passivity, and would place themselves, like all the leaders worthy of their name in the annals of nations and in Hebrew history, at the head of the war of redemption, in order to sever, through an independent and revolutionary effort, the accursed strangulation tie, "in order to save, at the last moment, ... this community from being enslaved for generations within the Palestinian state. The Anglo-Arab state, which is about to be established, according to the White Paper that is being fulfilled, in a few years. ...We therefore find it our duty to bring the content of the political memorandum to the attention of the public so that they may understand why a black night has descended upon our people, without a ray of light, and why their loyal sons have sworn to continue their war, without the approval of the institutions "and even against their prohibition."
