Free Frank in the third person, “Mrs John H. Morgan, Danville, Va.†The cover is written when Morgan was imprisoned in the Ohio Penetenary , canceled Richmond September 23, 1863. On July 31, 1863, after being captured while raiding into Indiana and Ohio, Morgan, and sixty-nine officers under their command were confined in the Ohio State Penitentiary at Columbus. He, along with several officers, escaped on November 27, 1863, by tunneling through the concrete floors and walls to an air chamber and then to the prison yard.
