"Transemen Transition " - ORIGINAL - 19.75" x 45.5" - 1971 - Acrylic on Canvas. Framed. REX Fine Art is considered the world's largest single collector and authenticator of Charles Keeling Lassiter (1926-2005) having known the artist personally in New York in the mid-1990's. Charles was a trained artist who is also considered an outsider because of his style and medium choices. His work has often been described as raw and primitive, the effect is bold and powerful. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in various Galleries and Museums in the United States, Switzerland and France, including the Museum of Modern Art in 1956 and the Musée de L'Art Brut in 1986. In 2018-2019, The Dahl (Rapid City, SD), The John M. Parrott (Belleville, ON) and The Colquitt (Moultrie, GA) will be holding solo exhibitions of Lassiter's works (his first solo exhibitions since 1995) - and ten additional venues are in discussions to hold additional solo exhibitions in the 2019-2020 timeframe.
Painting was stored under the artist's bed so there some dirt on the canvas - which the French describe as buying art "dans le jus"
