1978 Topps Hockey Vending Partial Case (13 Vending Boxes)
VOLUME II From a 1976-96 Topps, Fleer and Donruss Vending Collection
This is the second offering we are proud to auction from a recently-unearthed Major Vending Collection from the estate of a Midwestern Card Dealer. The dealer was active in the hobby from the 1960s to the mid-1990s, and his large holdings remained quietly in storage for more than thirty years after his passing. These circumstances contributed to the amazing condition quality of the cards from this collection. Stunning gloss, brilliant colors, impeccable surface quality--and that vending-fresh curve--dominate. The individucal cards offered here were only minimally handled, with the vending cases purchased from Topps, Fleer and Donruss emptied of their 500-count boxes, and those, in turn, emptied into 800-count card boxes by the dealer. That's the state in which we found the collection, almost mid-sort, as our man would have been building sets and sorting issues into numbered boxes for sale at shows, and in hobby publication ads.This second helping also features more than 70 factory sealed cases. A few have been reviewed by BBCE, with the vending boxes within encapsulated, and the remainder are presented JUST AS WE FOUND THEM, with none opened by our staff. When lids on the cases are popped, or the case is missing boxes, we indicate this in the description--in our handling of the cases, we saw no indication that any of the remaining boxes were disturbed.
