Evans, Max. Two books.
(1) Southwest Wind. San Antonio: The Naylor Co., 1958. First edition. A collection of his fine, western stories told in his inimitable style. "This is more than a collection of short stories. In truth, it is a leisurely tour of the Southwest on which you'll come to appreciate the beauty of the land, face the elements and meet some of its people." A native of New Mexico. Fine copy in near fine, not price-clipped dust jacket.
(2) Long John Dunn of Taos. Los Angeles: Western Lore Press, 1959. First Edition. Again, Max at his best. He interviewed Long John before his death. His biography also features the likes of Billy the Kid and Black Jack Ketchum. John was a "professional gambler, gunman, stage driver, saloon keeper and general opportunist." Part of the Great West and Indian Series at Westernlore. Great cover art by Don Louis Perceval. An excellent film was finally made of his book, "The High-Low Country." A fine copy in near fine pictorial dust jacket. Not price-clipped. Dimensions: Sight: 8 1/2 x 6 1/4 x 1 inches (Southwest); 8 3/8 x 5 3/4 x 1 inches (Long John).
