19th Century Nepalese Gilt Bronze Statue of Lakshmi. Bronze statue depicting the goddess Lakshmi seated on plinth, surrounded by radiant corona.
Lakshmi is a revered Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity, fortune, and beauty, widely worshipped across India and beyond. Often depicted seated or standing on a lotus flower, she is typically shown with four arms holding lotus blossoms and gold coins, symbolizing spiritual and material abundance. As the consort of Vishnu, one of Hinduism’s principal deities, Lakshmi embodies divine grace and generosity, blessing her devotees with success, fertility, and good fortune. Celebrated especially during the festival of Diwali, Lakshmi’s presence is invoked in homes and businesses to invite prosperity and remove obstacles. Her iconography and stories emphasize the balance between spiritual wealth and worldly well-being, making her one of the most popular and beloved figures in Hindu worship and art.
