(2) Japanese Bronze Ducks. Pair of Japanese bronze ducks, one with neck extended and mouth open, one seated and preening.
Largest Size: 7 x 13 x 24 in.
Ducks in Japanese art often symbolize fidelity, harmony, and the tranquil beauty of nature, appearing frequently in painting, woodblock prints, and decorative arts from the Edo period onward. Their imagery is tied to the belief that many duck species, especially mandarin ducks, mate for life, making them emblems of marital devotion and domestic happiness.
