(24) Laguiole Steak Knives with Boxes. Set of twenty-four French Laguiole steak knives with bone handles, brass fittings, stainless steel blades. Including two eight-piece fitted boxes.
Box Size: 10 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 1 1/2 in.
Laguiole knives are traditional French folding knives originating from the village of Laguiole in the Aveyron region, renowned for their elegant craftsmanship and distinctive design. First produced in the early 19th century, these knives combine sleek, tapered blades—often made from high-quality stainless or carbon steel—with gracefully curved handles crafted from materials like wood, horn, or bone. Characteristic features include the decorative bee or fly motif on the spring (a symbol tied to Napoleonic legend) and intricate file work along the spine, known as guilloché. Originally used by shepherds and farmers, Laguiole knives evolved into refined pocket knives and table cutlery prized for their balance of utility and artistry, continuing to be handmade by skilled artisans in southern France today.
