- Lot Description
(3) American Studio Art Glass Decorative Objects. The larger piece is a traditional vase with a broad diagonal rim in green with other colors swirled through the midsection, signed indistinctly and dated 1989 on the underside. The two smaller pieces are both perfume bottles with fishscale patterns and clear stoppers, signed on the undersides and dated indistinctly by Stephen Fellerman.
Condition: One stopper is truncated.
Size: (largest) 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 in.
Stephen Fellerman was born in Manhattan, New York in 1951, immersed in the arts from a young age and first experimenting with ceramics at the Pratt Institute before finding his calling in art glass after traveling to Sausalito, California in 1972. He returned east to Kent, Connecticut in 1973 to open his own glass studio, where he produced thousands of pieces and inspired numerous other artists throughout New England. Since 2007 he and his son Jason have been blowing glass together at a new home studio in Maui, Hawaii, and today his iridescent, Art Nouveau-inspired work can be found in major collections across the country, including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Chrysler Museum of Art, and the White House Art Archives.
