- Lot Description
(3) Antique Crystal Glass Company Ruby-Stained "Big Button" Pieces. The pattern known as "Big Button" first appeared some time in the 1880s and was part of the patten glass movement, this one featuring a distinctive colorless glass with ruby red staining in a hexagonal block pattern. This set includes 1 syrup dispenser (stopper chipped), 1 point-edged bowl, and 1 sweets jar.
Size: 8 3/4 x 8 3/4 x 3 1/2 in.
The Crystal Glass Company was a prominent manufacturer of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) in Bridgeport, Ohio in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, particularly known for intricately pressed glass items in popular patterns like "Crescent and Fan" and "Coral Gables," often marketed with high clarity. Although more information is difficult to uncover due to records destroyed in a number of flooding disasters, it appears they went defunct in the late 1890s, with their equipment and some staff consolidated into the United States Glass Company.
