Blue Ridge Pottery was an American ceramics line produced by Southern Potteries, Inc. in Erwin, Tennessee, from the 1930s through the late 1950s, known for its brightly colored, hand-painted floral and folk motifs. Each piece was individually decorated by local artisans, mostly women, using freehand brushwork rather than decals, giving the pottery a distinctive, cheerful, and slightly rustic charm. The designs were applied to simple molded white earthenware forms, then glazed and fired to create durable yet affordable dinnerware and decorative pieces. Popular across mid-century America, Blue Ridge pottery reflects both regional craftsmanship and mass-market appeal, making it highly collectible today for its vibrant patterns and connection to Appalachian folk art traditions.
