- Lot Description
(6) Pieces of Russel Wright Steubenville Mustard Yellow Ceramic Kitchenware. Designed in 1939, this set includes three different sized serving dishes, salt and pepper shakers, and a gravy boat. All marked on undersides except the salt and pepper shakers.
Condition: Commensurate with age.
Largest Size: 13 1/2 x 9 x 1 1/4 in.
Steubenville Pottery was an Ohio-based company that started in 1879 in East Liverpool before moving to its permanent location in 1881, taking the name of their new headquarters at that time. Founded with the help of local businessmen and a Staffordshire potter, the company initially produced dinner sets and expanded to include popular lines like the leaf-shaped Woodfield dishes. It became nationally famous for its decorated dinnerware, particularly its iconic American Modern line for designer Russel Wright. Steubenville Pottery closed its doors in 1959 due to a downturn in the area’s economy, and their pieces are still sought by collectors to this day.
