(8) Early 20th Century Collector's Dolls. Lot of eight mid-century dolls in various styles and makes, including baby dolls and rag dolls, with fitted outfits.
Largest Size: 7 x 15 1/2 x 4 in.
Mid-century dolls, produced roughly from the 1940s through the 1960s, reflect both the cultural values and evolving manufacturing techniques of the postwar era. Made from materials like hard plastic, composition, and later vinyl, these dolls often featured lifelike details such as sleep eyes, rooted hair, and articulated limbs, marking a shift toward greater realism in children’s toys. Popular lines included baby dolls that encouraged nurturing play, fashion dolls like Barbie that mirrored contemporary ideals of glamour and style, and character dolls tied to film, television, or storybook figures.
