Sight Size: 4 x 5 1/2 in.Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528) was a German painter, printmaker, and theorist, widely regarded as one of the most important figures of the Northern Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer combined Northern European detail and precision with Italian Renaissance ideals of proportion and perspective. He was a master of woodcut and engraving, with works like Melencolia I, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and Knight, Death, and the Devil showcasing his technical brilliance and symbolic depth. Dürer was also deeply engaged with humanist thought and mathematics, publishing influential treatises on measurement and fortification. His legacy endures not only through his art but through his contributions to elevating printmaking as a major artistic medium.
