- Lot Description
Alexander Khomsky (Born 1954) Russian/American, Original Oil on Canvas. Title: "At the Steps." Depicts a demure red-haired woman sitting on steps between curtains in a flower dress, with a discarded bouquet of lilies at her feet. Signed bottom left. Comes with certificate of authenticity as well as sales record for provenance.
Overall Size: 24 3/4 x 20 1/2 in.
Sight Size: 20 x 15 3/8 in.
Alexander Khomsky was born in 1954 in Russia, graduating from the Stroganoff Institute in Moscow with an MFA. His earliest works followed state-sanctioned guidelines, but his desire to explore avant-garde and underground art led him to emigrate to New York City in the early 1990s, where his work flourished under the influence of Amedeo Modigliani and Itzchak Tarkay. He has since participated in over 60 solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe, and his work is in numerous private, corporate, and public collections including the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
