Andre Herpin (1880-1940) French, Oil on Canvas Figural Painting "Lovers on the Path". Oil painting by André Herpin depicts a romantic scene of a couple in traditional attire sharing an intimate moment on a rural path, accompanied by a loyal dog in the foreground. Attributed on plaque, information verso. Framed.
Overall Size: 27 3/4 x 31 1/2 in.
Sight Size: 18 1/2 x 21 1/2 in.André Herpin (1880–1940) was a French painter and printmaker recognized for his evocative cityscapes, landscapes, and decorative motifs. Active primarily in Paris, Herpin produced lithographs and paintings that combined traditional techniques with the stylistic innovations of early 20th-century France. His work captures the character of urban life and natural scenery with sensitivity to composition, light, and detail, reflecting the aesthetic currents of his era. Though less widely known today, Herpin’s prints and paintings continue to be appreciated by collectors and scholars for their charm, technical skill, and insight into French artistic life during the early modern period.
