Anton Paul Kammerer (1954–2021) German, Mixed Media Abstract Collage. Signed lower right, dated 7/1990. Framed.

Sight Size: 21 1/2 x 31 1/2 in.Anton Paul Kammerer (1954–2021) was a German painter and graphic artist known for his richly textured mixed-media works, combining collage, watercolor, colored pencil, drawing, and printmaking. Born in Weißenfels, he began his artistic path as a poster painter before studying at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden under Jutta Damme from 1975 to 1980. In the early 1980s, he co-founded the Dresden-based artist group B 53, producing collaborative editions and experimental graphic works. Kammerer’s art is often characterized by melancholic, surreal narratives rendered in deep, earthy tones and rich sepia or blue hues. His symbolic compositions frequently feature animals—particularly birds and insects—set within dreamlike, introspective landscapes. He exhibited widely throughout Germany, participated in major national exhibitions including the Tenth Art Exhibition of the GDR in 1987–88, and was honored with several awards, such as the Wilhelm-Höpfner Prize and the Glückauf-Preis. His work is held in public collections in Dresden, Leipzig, and Cottbus.
