Benjamin Sharpsteen (1895-1980) American, Americana Lithograph. Depicting a tense encounter on a narrow mountain road where a red early-model automobile startles a team of horses pulling a crowded stagecoach, while a concerned woman and an elderly traveler look on. Watermarked lower right. Framed.

Sight Size: 11 x 17 in.Ben Sharpsteen (1895–1980) was an American animator, director, and producer who played a pivotal role in shaping the early artistry and production methods of Walt Disney Studios. Joining Disney in the 1920s, Sharpsteen rose to become one of the studio’s most trusted creative leaders, serving as supervising director on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), the first full-length animated feature, and co-directing Dumbo (1941). Known for his strong sense of story, timing, and character performance, he helped set standards for feature-length animation and guided teams through Disney’s formative “Golden Age,” leaving a lasting influence on the language and craft of animated filmmaking.
