Carl Sorensen (1864-1938) Danish, Art Deco Bronze Verdigris Tray.
Condition: Patina throughout.
Size: 18 3/4 x 15 x 1/2 in.
Carl Sorensen (1864–1938) was a Danish metalsmith and designer best known for his elegant bronze vessels, which often feature a distinctive green patina. Working during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, he specialized in decorative yet functional objects—bowls, vases, planters, and covered urns—that combined classical simplicity with the refined craftsmanship of the Arts and Crafts movement. His use of bronze with a mottled verdigris finish gave his pieces a timeless, antique quality that made them popular in both Denmark and abroad. Today, Sorensen’s work is prized by collectors for its understated form, beautiful surface treatment, and lasting contribution to Scandinavian decorative arts.
