- Lot Description
Chinese Carved Wood End Table.
The edge of the tabletop is often slightly raised and may be adorned with a decorative border. The apron, the area just below the tabletop, is elaborately carved with openwork designs. These carvings typically depict auspicious symbols such as stylized dragons, phoenixes, floral scrolls (often peonies or lotus), or geometric patterns. The table stands on four gracefully curved legs, each exhibiting further detailed carvings. These carvings often continue the themes seen on the apron, with elements like leaves, vines, or animalistic forms. The legs terminate in distinctive feet, which are frequently shaped like stylized animal paws or claws, adding a touch of elegance and stability to the piece.
