Daily News Yankee Hero Derek Jeter Newsprint Poster. Vintage newsprint features a commemorative "Yankee Hero" poster of Derek Jeter from the Daily News, capturing his iconic mid-air throwing action alongside his regular season and playoff statistics. Framed.
Overall Size: 21 x 15 3/4 in.
Derek Jeter entered the 1996 season as a highly touted rookie shortstop for the New York Yankees and quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the franchise. After winning the starting job out of spring training, Jeter delivered a poised, all-around performance, batting .314 with 10 home runs and 78 RBIs while showing advanced plate discipline and steady defense uncommon for a 21-year-old. His confidence and composure under pressure became especially visible during the postseason, where he contributed key hits on the Yankees’ run to their first World Series championship since 1978. By year’s end, Jeter was named American League Rookie of the Year, signaling the arrival of a player whose blend of athleticism, leadership, and clutch play would define an era in New York baseball.
