Eelus (born 1979 as Lee Pennington) is a British contemporary artist from northern England who emerged as a notable figure in the early 2000s UK street art scene with playful, stencil‑based pop‑influenced works that quickly garnered attention on the streets of East London and in the urban art community. He transitioned from a successful career in graphic design to full‑time art after his early screen‑print editions with the influential publisher Pictures On Walls sold out, establishing him among collectable contemporary stencil artists and leading to invitations to paint at major events like Banksy’s Cans Festival. Eelus’s work is distinguished by a dynamic interplay of stark monochrome figures and vibrant colour, surreal and evocative imagery drawn from pop culture and design, and a visual language that balances humour, mystery and contrast; he has since exhibited and painted worldwide and currently lives and works in Brighton, UK.
