Elgin Pocket Watch in Hunter Gold Filled Case With Chain. Antique gold-toned pocket watch featuring an intricately engraved engine-turned case with a central crest, attached to a delicate matching chain with cylindrical bar links.
Size: 2 x 17 1/4 in.
Elgin National Watch Company was one of the largest and most influential American watchmakers, operating from 1864 to 1968 and producing tens of millions of timepieces for both civilian and military use. Based in Elgin, Illinois, the company became synonymous with reliable, affordable precision, especially through its mass-produced pocket watches that helped standardize timekeeping during the railroad era. Elgin later expanded into wristwatches, including rugged military models used in both World Wars, while maintaining a reputation for solid engineering and attractive design. Today, vintage Elgin watches are widely collected as enduring examples of American industrial craftsmanship and everyday horology.
