Frederic Remington (1861–1909) was an American painter, illustrator, and sculptor renowned for his vivid depictions of the American West. Specializing in scenes of cowboys, Native Americans, and U.S. cavalry, his work captured the rugged spirit and dramatic action of frontier life. A skilled draftsman, Remington’s dynamic compositions and keen attention to detail brought the West to life for audiences in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly through his illustrations for magazines like Harper’s Weekly. Beyond painting, he also created iconic bronze sculptures, such as The Broncho Buster. His work remains a defining visual record of the mythic American West.
