German KPM-Style Gilt Bronze Jewelry Box. Ornate German casket or jewelry box featuring gilded metal scrollwork, figural cherub accents, and hand-painted porcelain panels depicting pastoral scenes. Attributed as posibly KPM, unsigned.
Size: 10 x 14 x 14 1/2 in.
KPM porcelain refers to the fine porcelain produced by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin, established in 1763 under the patronage of Frederick the Great. Renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship, KPM porcelain is characterized by its high-quality materials, refined forms, and meticulously hand-painted decoration, often featuring classical motifs, landscapes, and portrait scenes. The factory became a leading center of European porcelain production, competing with other prestigious manufactories while maintaining a distinct elegance associated with Prussian taste. Each piece typically bears the iconic cobalt-blue scepter mark, symbolizing authenticity and the enduring legacy of one of Europe’s most respected porcelain traditions.
