Group of 5 American Bennington Attributed Rockingham-Glazed Pottery Flasks. Flint Enamel, mottled brown glaze with olive-yellow and green spotting and streaking.
Largest Size: 8 x 6 x 3 in.
Bennington pottery refers to a style of American stoneware and earthenware originally produced in Bennington, Vermont, beginning in the late 18th century. The pottery gained national recognition in the mid-1800s for its innovative glazes—especially the signature Rockingham and flint enamel finishes—characterized by rich brown or mottled, marble-like surfaces. Produced by companies such as the United States Pottery Company and Norton Pottery, Bennington pieces ranged from utilitarian wares like jugs and crocks to highly decorative items such as teapots, candlesticks, and figurines. These wares were both durable and visually striking, and they played an important role in early American ceramic history. Today, original 19th-century Bennington pottery is highly collectible and often sought for its craftsmanship, distinctive glazing, and historical significance.
