- Lot Description
Lars Hellsten (1933-2022) Swedish, Orrefors Crystal "Isabella" Bowl. Signed on the underside. The delicated scalloped shape resembles a shell and leaf at the same time, one of the artist's classic forms. Signed and numbered on the underside.
Size: 5 x 8 in.
Lars Hellsten was born on July 18th, 1933 in Sweden, and studied at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack) with a focus on sculpture. He was active as a designer at Skruf Glassworks from 1964 to 1972 before joining Orrefors glassworks in a collaboration that lasted over 25 years, producing famous designs like Discus, Corona, and Eden. Hellsten’s work is represented at Nationalmuseum and Nordiska Museet in Stockholm, Småland Museum, Halland Museum of Cultural History, Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He passed away on February 16th, 2022.
