- Lot Description
Mexican Zapotec Wool Rug with Mitla and Cross Patterns. The orange, green, brown, and black tones tell the origin story of the emergence of the Zapotec people from within the earth, bookended on both sides by a trapezoid with a cross inside it, indicating when the Spanish conquered the people and used the stones of one of their most sacred temples, Mitla, to build a church on top of it and establish dominance.
