The paintings are of a Qing Dynasty (1644-1910) nobleman or civil court official, indicated by the blue color of his robe, and what appears to be a bird on the man's robe. The number of dragon claws on the woman's robe are not evident from the photograph, but three-clawed dragon robes were permitted for lower ranking officials. With provenance from Sotheby's. The overall sizes are 21 3/4 x 17 1/2 in. and the sight sizes are 11 x 6 1/2 in.
