Persian Sarouk Wool Rug. Vibrant red, blue, and pink hues throughout the curving vine and floral patterns in both the main field and the border.
Size: 52 x 26 in.
A Sarouk rug (also Saruk or Sarough) is a highly valued type of Persian rug primarily woven in the Markazi Province of Iran, specifically the village of Saruk and the city of Arak. These heavy, durable carpets became exceptionally popular in the 20th Century American market, leading to an abundance of stylish pieces featuring distinct curvilinear and floral designs. Evolving from patterns shared with Tabriz, modern Sarouk rugs are recognized among Oriental rugs for their excellent craftsmanship and unique use of negative or free space.
