Royal Doulton Stoneware Pottery Lidded Tobacco Jar. Royal Doulton stoneware tobacco jar featuring a vibrant cobalt blue drip glaze and a metal inner lid designed to keep contents fresh. Marked on base.
Size: 5 x 5 x 5 1/2 in.
Royal Doulton is a historic British ceramics manufacturer founded in 1815 by John Doulton in London, originally producing stoneware before becoming internationally known for fine bone china, tableware, and decorative figurines. Granted a royal warrant in 1901 by King Edward VII, the company earned the right to use the “Royal” title and built a reputation for elegant dinner services, character jugs, and detailed porcelain figures that blend craftsmanship with British cultural themes. Royal Doulton pieces are recognized for their quality materials, refined modeling, and distinctive backstamps, and the brand remains highly regarded among collectors for its long history and wide range of classic and commemorative designs.
