Signed Sharon (20th Century) Watercolor Illustration of Finches. Signed watercolor illustration of two finches perched on a branch. Signed Sharon, bottom middle. Framed.
Finches are small to medium-sized songbirds belonging to the family Fringillidae, known for their short, stout beaks adapted for seed eating. They are found worldwide, especially in the Northern Hemisphere, and are admired for their vibrant plumage and cheerful songs. Finches played a key role in Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, as he observed variations in beak shape among Galápagos finches that reflected their adaptation to different food sources. These birds are social, often seen in flocks, and many species are popular in aviculture due to their beauty and melodious calls.
