William Tarr (1925-2006) American, Bronze Brutalist Sculpture. 20th century bronze brutalist industrial sculpture, signed by artist. Numbered 2/6. Excellent condition.

William (“Bill”) Tarr (1925–2006) was an American sculptor, painter, photographer, magician, and bestselling author whose creative career spanned more than five decades. A largely self-taught artist from New York City, Tarr gained recognition for monumental public sculptures that blended abstract expressionism with powerful social and historical themes—most notably his 30 × 30 × 30-foot welded steel Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial near Lincoln Center, and the bronze Gates of the Six Million at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. Beyond sculpture, he performed as a stage magician under the alias “The Great Tarrini,” authored popular books on magic, and produced a wide body of paintings and photographic works. His work, featured in major public spaces and museum collections, reflects a commitment to visual storytelling, social justice, and artistic integration across mediums.
