Winslow Homer (\1836 – 1910) American, Nautical Lithograph Print "The Flirt". Color lithograph print depicting a group of sailors lounging on their small boat at sea. Watermarked Oberosler France, 1956.

Winslow Homer (February 24, 1836 – September 29, 1910) was a prominent American painter and illustrator best known for his marine subjects and powerful depictions of the natural world. Largely self-taught, he began his career as a commercial illustrator before gaining recognition for his Civil War scenes and later, for his dynamic seascapes and rural American life. Working in both oil and watercolor, Homer's style evolved from crisp realism to more expressive, atmospheric compositions. His time in coastal Maine, the Adirondacks, and the tropics deeply influenced his work. Today, he is considered one of the most important American artists of the 19th century.
