- Lot Description
The Regina Co., Rahway, N.J., a scarce "Reginaphone" 20 3/4 inch disc music box with phonograph, mahogany case with molded base, front with carved wooden escutcheon, the lid with molded edge, and balustrade supporting the central stepped, molded top, the underside of the cover with molded panel and Regina logo, the case interior with short bedplate movement and duplex comb, removable cast iron platen and tonearm with built-in horn for conversion to phonograph, the case bottom with original guarantee label, serial #2260016, resting on a mahogany cabinet with four partitions holding 21 discuss and five shelves holding 45 records
Condition
refinished case missing a small piece of beading; one tooth broken. This model was shipped from the Regina factory in Rahway, New Jersey on April 12, 1916. The Reginaphone was the last ditch effort to keep the music box business alive in the face of increasing competition form the phonograph industry.
