- Lot Description
Presented here is one of the finest 1985 St. Louis Cardinals National League Championship rings in existence that is derived directly from the Thomas family of former MLB Player and GM, Lee Thomas. Genuine diamonds sit atop a red stone in the St. Louis logo for a masterpiece design. "NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS" surrounds the face for a clean look at center.
The right shank reads "THOMAS" along with the National League logo and "ST. LOUIS CARDINALS." The left shank features the Cardinals Logo and "1985" and "14th WORLD SERIES."
The inner band has been stamped with "JOSTENS 10K" denoting the makeup and the ring's manufacturer. The ring remains in practically unworn condition. The size 11 ring weighs 32.27 grams and is accompanied by its original presentation box.
Lee Thomas was the Director of Player Development under Whitey Herzog and the Cardinals during the 1980s. His work for the Cardinals directly led to their success in the eight years after his appointment. At the end of Thomas’ tenure in the job in 1988, Herzog outlined for a reporter some of his friend’s accomplishments. Every number-one draft pick from 1980 to 1987, for example, reached the major leagues.
