- Lot Description
The Philadelphia Phillies never thought trading away their 20th round pick from the 1978 MLB Amateur Draft would come back to haunt them like it did. The lucky recipient of Ryne Sandberg was the Chicago Cubs. After appearing in 13 games with the Phils in 1981, Ryno became a fixture at second base for the Cubbies for the rest of his career, earning nine straight Gold Gloves and ten consecutive NL All-Star nods. In 1984, he was named NL MVP and in 1990 he led the NL with 40 home runs.
This offered Ryno gamer hails from his '92 campaign when he won his seventh and final Silver Slugger award by batting .304 with 26 homers, 87 RBI and 100 runs scored. The Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick '256B' professional model bat is un-cracked and displays excellent use with ball marks, stitch impressions, moderate pine-tar residue on the handle, black ink transfers and white leather scuffs a-plenty. The model number "256B", order number "249" and year "92" are all stamped on the knob end, along with Ryno's uniform No. "23" in black marker. Bat expert John Taube of PSA/DNA has given it a GU 8.5 grade.
