- Lot Description
Presented in this lot is a Los Angeles Lakers home alternate warm-up jersey worn by Kobe Bryant during the 2003-04 regular season, the 2004 playoffs, and the 2004 NBA Finals. The white Nike Dri-Fit sleeveless pullover has the "Lakers" team name logo in purple-on-gold tackle twill on the front and the Lakers 'L' embroidered patch sewn on the back right tail. The NBA Finals patch is sewn to the front left shoulder and the NBA logo is embroidered on the front right shoulder. The arm holes are trimmed in gold and purple. This warm-up matches others 2003-04 home alternate exemplars.
Sports Investors was able to conclusively photo-match this shirt to being worn by Kobe in warm-ups during the regular season (vs. Suns on Dec. 21, 2003); Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals vs. Spurs on May 9th; and before Game 1 of the 2004 NBA Finals vs. Detroit on June 6th. In these three games combined, Kobe had 57 points, 16 rebounds, 14 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks.
A Nike Team size XXL manufacturer tag is sewn to the inside of the collar and on the front left tail. Kobe's number "8" is handwritten on the tail's manufacturer tag in black marker. The Nike Swoosh in purple is embroidered on the front. Tagging and size is appropriate for Kobe during that era. The warm-up jersey exhibits a level of usage that would be expected of a shirt worn for the duration of the season with puckered tagging, loose threads and sweat staining. A handwritten "8" has faded from repeated washing. Includes full paperwork from Sports Investors Authentication with photo-match details from the three aforementioned games.
