- Lot Description
On November 5, 2011, LSU alum Brian Wilson was invited to be the celebrity guest picker on ESPN's College GameDay broadcast before LSU's big game against Alabama. He certainly showed up prepared, dressed to the nines in a full LSU Tigers football uniform boasting his "38" baseball uniform number. "B-Weezy" thoroughly enjoyed himself during the broadcast, entertaining the masses with his deadpan humor and Ryan Reynolds-like delivery.
This lot offers this jersey and pants uniform set he wore on that memorable show. Wilson paid respects to his alma mater by wearing the uniform throughout the broadcast. It seemed to pay off as the Tigers held off the Crimson Tide in a 9-6 nailbiter in Tuscaloosa, AL. Comes with a letter signed by Brian Wilson. (A photo-match can easily be added if one so chooses.)
SCP is excited to present the Brian Wilson Collection with all items coming straight from Wilson himself. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2003 out of LSU, the 6’ 1” flame-thrower developed into a reliable big-league reliever and earned the closer’s job in 2008. Over the next four seasons, “B-Weezy” saved 163 games (most in MLB in that span) and earned three NL All-Star nods. Most importantly, he helped the Giants snap a 56-year title drought in 2010 and win their first World Series in San Francisco. Sporting a thick black beard, mohawk, tattoos and flashy cleats on the mound, Wilson was a fan favorite and true 1-of-1 with moxie, flair, and a big heart. His “Fear the Beard” mantra became a pop culture phenomenon in the Bay Area and beyond. After picking up his second World Series ring with the Giants in 2012, Wilson played his final two seasons with the Dodgers and settled in Los Angeles after retirement.
