- Lot Description
Ron Cey had a very strong outing during the 1981 World Series. Cey batted .350 with 7 hits in 20 at bats. He also drove in 6 runs. He would share MVP honors with teammates Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager.
Presented here is the Babe Ruth Award presented by the New York Chapter Baseball Writers Association of America that was given to Cey, recognizing him as the most outstanding player of the 1981 World Series. The stunning award features a pen and bat crossing a diamond shape in silver affixed to a black marble like base that makes for a great contrast as a background. "The Babe Ruth Award" is etched in the top center, "Ron Cey Los Angeles Dodgers" is etched on the right part of the diamond, while "Presented by the New York Chapter Baseball Writers Association of America" and "To The Most Outstanding Player Of The 1981 World Series" are at the bottom and left of portions of the award respectively.
Comes with a letter of provenance from Ron Cey.
