- Lot Description
World War II–era U.S. banknote issued for use in Hawaii after the Pearl Harbor attack. It features the familiar blue seal and portrait of George Washington on the front, with the word "HAWAII" overprinted in brown on both sides. The back of the note is also printed in dark brown instead of green. These overprints allowed the U.S. government to easily identify and invalidate the notes if Hawaii had been invaded.
