A MAGICIAN'S WOOD AND STAINLESS STEEL "GIANT GUILLOTINE," BY ABBOTT'S, OSBORNE PLAN, 1970s, this head guillotine (or "head chopper") of tall rust red-stained wood and hinged rectangular form, with side release lever and stainless steel blade with cord suspension, above locking stocks with central head opening flanked by two carrot openings, raised on two removable triangular-shaped bases and folds for packing, height: 7', width: 24", depth: 35"; together with a two-handled gray transport case on wheels, height: 5 1/2", width: 49 1/2", depth: 29". (4) Note: This rather intimidating magician's act is set up in about three minutes and only requires a cabbage head, two carrots, a willing participant from audience, and a committee chosen at random from audience to be placed around the room. Then place the cabbage in the head opening, briefly wait then pull the release lever and watch the audience as the blade falls and splits the cabbage in half. Raise the blade, re-set lever, then reload the head opening with the "willing" and now kneeling victim. Don't forget the two carrots for either side of victim's head - a tasty bit for the stew later. Then wait, make sure there is no cabbage residue around stocks that are firmly locked around the nervous participant's head, check that they're comfortable, pause, smile, then pull the lever and watch the audience freak as the blade falls splitting the carrots and...there kneels the participant with head firmly in place and not so much as a scratch!
