Howard & Co. /Boston, seconds bit and blued-steel hands, the full-length door with printed Directions for Putting Up the Clock...E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., black, maroon, and gold leaf tablets open to the gilt pendulum rod and damascened pendulum bob with tie-down, eight-day rectangular plate movement stamped E. Howard & Co./Boston with dead-beat escapement, maintaining power, Geneva stop and compounded iron weight, ht. 58 in.
Note: A note inside the case reads: "This clock hung in Young's Hotel in Boston for many years." Young's Hotel was located on Court Street in the financial district of Boston.
Very Near Pristine. Two possibly three replacement blocks supporting the wooden weight baffle, iron weight cast "1" although doubtful that it is by association. Dial nearly perfect and no doubt undisturbed. Appears to be a clock that has had expert professional care.
