Condition: Lined, surface grime.
Provenance: Collection of Gustave and Marion Ring, Washington, D.C., purchased November 16, 1954, from Teresa Ventura, Florence, Italy, to the current owner by family descent.

The canvas is tightly stretched, and the edges are covered with tape. Where the tape came loose and was removed from part of one edge, it a second layer is visible. However, the impasto is intact and the back of the canvas has age that makes it feel as though the lining is not recent.
