Lalaounis .900 Silver-gilt Tazza, Greece, mid to late 20th century, encircled by swan heads, ht. 4 in., approx. 13.4 troy oz.
N.B. This bowl was inspired by a 5th century B.C. vessel from Persepolis and an example is illustrated in "Metamorphoses" by Ilias Lalaounis, pp. 164. Lalaounis also created bracelets and pendants inspired by the same vessel using the swan's heads as traditional symbol of justice and equity in ancient Persia.
