Mercer Eight-day Chronometer, St. Albans, England, No. 640 N, 5-in. silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and up/down dials, marked with maker's name, location, and number as above, damascened, three-quarter plate, fusee movement with split bi-metallic balance, helical hairspring, and spring detent escapement, in a fully gimbaled brass bowl, all in a glazed two-tier mahogany box, ht. 8 in.
Chronometer is presently running. Box has a couple of cracks and a small repair at the hinge. Serial numbers on movement, dial and bowl match.
