Queen Anne Maple Carved Chest on Chest, attributed to Maj. John Dunlap, Bedford, New Hampshire, late 18th century, the cresting with cutout scrolls and carved central fan, flanked by reticulated basket-weave panels, fans at the corners, and reticulated carving repeated on the sides, with a flat molded cornice below, all above a case of three thumb-molded short drawers and graduated long drawers below; on a lower case of two thumb-molded long drawers, with a fan-carved deep short drawer flanked by two additional drawers, above a scroll and fan-carved skirt joining cabriole legs ending in pad feet, ht. 81, wd. 39 1/2, dp. 19 1/2 in.

Condition: refinished, with some original brasses, replaced right rear leg, possible restoration to cornice, and the cornice with replaced glue blocks. the sides of the lower case with shrinkage cracks, and loss to thumb molding on lowermost left drawer.
