- Lot Description
Three color photographs, 1987, unmarked, signed 'David Hockney', dated and inscribed 'Little Stanley/My New Best Friend after Henry' on the mat.
Photographs all 4 x 6 in. (sheet), 20 1/2 x 10 1/2 in. (framed together).
Note: A central subject of David Hockney's art in the 1980s and 90s was his beloved dog, Stanley. Along with his other dachshund, Boodgie, Stanley held a significant role as a subject in Hockney's art. Hockney was inspired to get a dog after being smitten with his friend Ian Falconer's dachshund, Heinz. Hockney created numerous paintings and drawings of his two dogs, and took many photographs of them. The 'Henry' referenced here is Hockney's dear friend Henry Geldzahler who died in 1994.

In very good condition.
