Our May Fine sale brings together an exemplary group of British, European and American fine and decorative arts that spans centuries of stylistic and aesthetic movements across many collecting categories.

The top drawer sliding and opening to a writing surface with the central 'box' sliding out to reveal two secret drawers. The right secret drawer spuriously inscribed in ink 'Roentgen-Neuwied'.

Very minor nicks and scuffing to the marble top. In good overall condition with a french polish throughout. Minor scuffing to the leather lined writing surface. The short drawers in the secretaire are mahogany lined and beautifully made. The side door is locked and without a key. Ormolu handles and escutcheons of a later date. Structurally sound and of very fine quality.
Not withstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
Sold Sotheby's Monaco, February 13, 1983, lot 487 (where it was fitted with further mounts and different escutcheons) and described as 'bearing a stamp J.F. Leleu' (apparently now effaced).
