Etching in black on wove paper, 1920, signed with initials in pencil, unnumbered (the edition was 125 with a few trial proofs), inscribed 'Jacques Villon Schachbrett' on the reverse, with the Die Schaffenden blindstamp; together with Jacques Villon (1875-1963) and Marcel Fiorni (1922-2008): Rivère ou Les Poissons, etching in black on wove paper, 1957, signed in pencil, unnumbered (edition of unknown size), inscribed '2 1/2', '2' and '3 1/4'.
7 7/8 x 6 1/8 in. (plate), 16 x 12 1/8 in. (sheet), 17 x 14 3/8 in. (frame), 7 1/4 x 5 in. (plate), 10 3/4 x 7 1/4 in. (sheet), 14 3/4 x 10 7/8 in. (frame).
Literature: Ginestet and Pouillon E 292 and App. 14.
Note: Table d'Échecs was printed for the German magazine Die Schaffenden by Paul Westheim, published by Gustav Kipenheuer in Potsdam. Rivère ou Les Poissons was partially engraved by Villon and partially by Fiorni: the bottom image was engraved by Villon and the top image was engraved by Fiorni.
Both with full margins, light-, mat and other staining, foxing, minor creasing and remains of old hinges on the reverse. Table d'Échecs with some surface soiling in the left margin. Rivère ou Les Poissons with a small, repaired tear at the top sheet edge, backed. Otherwise both in good condition.
